airtelThe second season of the Airtel Trace Music Star is in motion, in addition to the MK15m at stake for the top three contestants; Airtel has rolled out weekly and monthly prizes to create excitement.

Brands and Communications Manager for Airtel Isabel Kachinjika said the weekly prizes would cater for the most humorous song, best karaoke and most distinct voice.

Kachinjika further disclosed that there would be another lot of lucrative prizes for best male and female recordings.

“This season we are geared to amplify our game to another level. We learnt a lot in our previous edition of the contest and pretty much it is from that, that now we are spicing things up even more,” said Kachinjika adding that each week, the highest voter each week would also earn a prize.

In the previous edition of Airtel Trace Music Star competition, over 20, 000 people auditioned via their mobile phones and at the end of it all, Sam Mjura Mkandawire emerged tops and pocketed a cool MK14 million before proceeding to participate in the pan African contest which saw a Tanzanian contestant carrying the day.

This time around, top three local winners will pocket MK10m, MK3m and MK2m respectively. To enter the contest Airtel subscribers should dial 59911 and record a song. They can also practice by singing Karaoke on their phone.

According to Kachinjika, so far the response generated by the just launched second season is overwhelming.

“We are looking forward to having the best contest ever, a show that will be fully packaged with the cream of local talent. I believe the overwhelming response we are registering this time around is as a result of the immense impact of the first season,” she said further highlighting that winning these weekly or monthly prizes does not reflect on performance score of the final.
