Musicians Association of Malawi (MAM) has said it will launch an investigation into the leakage of late Grace Chinga’s unreleased songs on the local market.
Just less than a week since Grace Chinga was buried, the Malawi music market has been flooded with the complete compilation of her new album, when reports are indicating that the fallen gospel music star only released three songs.
Mam President Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango has since vowed to deal with whoever is responsible for the leakage.
“We have been discussing how best we can coordinate with the Copyright Society of Malawi to see how we can stop this. We are trying to see whether we can manage to get those who are duplicating this music. Otherwise, we want to seriously condemn this act. It is uncalled for and we plead with those that are perpetrating to immediately stop,” said Mhango.
He added, before engaging Grace Chinga’s producer Khathwa Aligiza, MAM plans to first discuss with the musician’s family, as her son Steve Spesho was also involved in the production of the music.
