Allan Ngumuya, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South on Thursday branded opposition MPs as the nine ungrateful lepers of the Bible, who saw nothing to thank Jesus Christ for healing them.
Apparently, Ngumuya was reacting to the branding of the State of the Nation Address as empty by the opposition side of Parliament.
“Madam Speaker, even in the Bible when Jesus Christ had healed ten people who were suffering from leprosy, only one saw all the reasons to thank Jesus for, but the nine walked away. Madam Speaker, I am afraid to say the nine are the ones sitting on this isle of parliament. They are seeing nothing good in the State of the Nation Address,” said the Gospel musician cum politician.
However, the opposition could not stomach Ngumuya’s attack in silence, as the outspoken Kamlepo Kalia stood on a point of order, asking the First Deputy Speaker, Esther Mcheka Chilenje, who was presiding, to reprimand him.
“Madam Speaker, it is out of order for someone to abuse the Holy Bible just to achieve political milages,” lamented Kalua.
Chilenje then ruled Ngumuya out of order.
