As one way of promoting Poets from the grass root level, veteran poets in the country have teamed up to form the group called Nthukutila ya Ndakatulo Scheduled to be launched on April 17 at the Blantyre Cultural Centre
Speaking in an interview, the group’s chairperson Sylvester Kalizang’oma said Poets create pictures, lines that connect people in many ways as well as splitting magnetic words which attract the senses of poet addicts but they lack motivation.
Kalizang’oma said the development has prompted Nthukulira ya Ndakatulo to venture into an arena of promoting fellow poets financially and with ideas.
Sylvester Kalizang’oma says Malawi has many amazing poets that are gifted but their talents are hidden due to financial hindrances.
“After doing a thorough research of poetry in Malawi, we discovered that there is still a huge gap between the well established and upcoming poets in terms of promotion. You see, without money it is impossible for poets to produce albums on their own and get exposed at the same time. That is why we have formed this group,” he said.
He also added that several poets are working on their albums now and that Nthukutila ya ndakatulo is looking forward to take their projects to the public.
“Nthukutila ya Ndakatulo is proud to inform all poetry fans that there are some budding poets who are in the studio recording their debut albums and we will unveil those products to the public soon.
“We want to tell our fans that we have come with a new touch of poetry, and they should anticipate the unique entertainment from Nthukutila ya Ndakatulo.” He said.
Nthukutila ya Ndakatulo launch is expected to bring together number of artists, including: Amfumu Kenneth Khondiwa, Luckier Chikopa, Samuel Joseph, Hudson Chamasowa, Given Chichitike, Yohane Pangani, Sylvester Kalizang’oma, Atcheya Frank Naligonya, Mr Jokes, The Mighty GYV, Mada Nyambo, Norman Nyirenda, Felix Njonjonjo, and gospel musician Ronald Thamakera.
